The Editor

Ah Paris! Its Seine riverbanks, its traffic jams, its parks, its construction work. And its hundreds of cafes. From traditional bistros to neighborhood bars, from high-end restaurants to local pubs, these "cafés" are diverse and unique. But it is this diversity that makes the strength of the capital, and today allows it to have two of its addresses among the most beautiful establishments on earth! A masterful achievement, that we can only applaud. But then, where are these famous gems? A top 10 that is 100% European In this ranking revealed a few weeks ago, the Telegraph ranks 50 cafes around the world, without any distinction of style, price range, or services offered. And it is no surprise that we can see that Paris is well represented with its iconic cafes. Europe dominates the game. Out of the top 10 awarded establishments, two are in London, two in Prague (both with a very Parisian inspiration), one in Porto, one in Lisbon, one in Naples, one in Amsterdam (the big winner), and two in Paris. A duo that has absolutely nothing to be ashamed of, as the two addresses end up in the 6th and 7th positions respectively!

6th: The Breizh Café

Well, it looks like the person who made this ranking has a pretty broad definition of the word "café". For us Parisians, the Breizh Café is first and foremost a crêperie, before it's a café. But hey, we're not complaining, especially if it helps us win an award. If you're not familiar with this restaurant, it's a unique crêperie that blends the traditional Breton dish with flavors and ingredients from Japan. This concept was created by chef Bertrand Larcher, who lived in Japan for many years. The Breizh Café now has several locations in Paris, but the one on rue Old Temple is the one that received an award, thanks to its cozy wooden and leather atmosphere.

Breizh Café 109, rue Vieille du Temple – 3e Plus d’infos 7e : Le Café de Flore Bon, forcément, vu le thème du classement, on s’attendait un peu à y voir apparaître les Deux.Magots or Café de Flore. And it is the latter that has won the prize. At the same time, it must be said that with their fascinating stories, their hyper traditional decor, and their servers in white vests and aprons, these two establishments have something to offer to tourists. Café de Flore is a somewhat magical place that instantly immerses us in the literary history of Paris. Sitting on the red vinyl banquettes, one can easily imagine Sartre and de Beauvoir discussing and writing for hours. More than just a cafe, it is a place that sums up and conveys the whole spirit of the Saint-Germain-des-Près neighborhood, where people love to sit at the bar to observe the regulars reading the newspaper and the servers performing their fascinating ballet.
