The most anticipated artistic project of 2026 is starting to become more and more concrete! From June 6 to 28, the public will have the unique opportunity to experience The Cave of Pont Neuf, created by JR. This work, designed as a tribute to that of Christo and Jeanne-Claude, Pont Neuf Wrapped, will be on a grand scale and will therefore require significant installation work that will affect traffic in Paris starting in May.

Traffic restrictions starting May 4, 2026

Everything will kick off on Monday, May 4, 2026, with the installation phase of the project, as stated in a press release. The actual construction will start on Monday, May 11. Consequently, the Pont Neuf will be completely closed to traffic for pedestrians, bicycles, and cars. This closure will last until June 6, when the public will be able to access the artwork. Other traffic restrictions will be imposed in the coming weeks.

The dismantling of this artwork will begin on June 29 and is expected to be completed by Monday, July 13. — The bridge will then reopen to traffic.

A one-way route

The press release also clarifies...The journey of La Caverne du Pont Neuf, set to music by Thomas Bangalter, former Daft Punk. This spectacular installation, presented as a large cave, will only be accessible in one direction, with an entrance on the side of the Place du Pont Neuf-Christo and Jeanne-Claude, and an exit at the Quai du Louvre. Given its size, this cave will of course be visible from the banks of the Seine, the quays, or even the sightseeing boats for those who treat themselves to a river cruise. It will be open seven days a week, 24 hours a day
