We know that using public transport, while always very convenient, is not always simple. Between delays, strikes, and construction work, you sometimes need to show a lot of patience. This is especially true for the users of the J and L lines of the Transilien, which are probably the most disrupted at the moment, facing endless construction and service interruptions for several weeks. So much so that Valérie Pécresse, president of IDFM, decided to make a small gesture…

Disruptions Everywhere

In March, due to a defect in the tracks, the wheels of dozens of trains on the J line were damaged, causing damage to over 60% of the tracks of this Transilien line departing from Saint-Lazare and heading to Poissy, Pontoise, and more.

Mantes-la-Jolie. As a result, emergency works had to start at the beginning of April. It's quite a significant project, leading to train cancellations, last-minute service changes, and increased travel times for around 200,000 daily passengers on the green line. To top it all off, a storm at the end of June made things even worse, complicating traffic even further. So much so that L line trains had to be used to provide support, which also disrupted traffic on that line.

A Well-Deserved Refund

In light of these objectively disastrous conditions (even though IDFM claims to have maintained 80% of the service), the Île-de-France transport company has decided to take action for its users. And let’s be honest, this is bound to make some people happy, as they have announced a refund of one month of full-price Navigo pass for users of line J and half a month for those on line L. The first group will receive €90.80, which, in most cases, the employer covers half of this amount. To put it another way, they will get the equivalent of two months of travel, and one month for line L. If you’re affected, the form will be available starting September 15th on the dedicated page of the IDFM website.
