On a a global scale, is Paris one of the best cities to start a family ? That's what the latest report published by Compare the Market AU claims, on February 5, 2026. The organization looked into the best cities for raising children around the globe. And while the French capital didn't make it to the top three, it ranks in the top 20 — just shy of the top 10 — out of a total of 50 cities evaluated !
Paris among the best family cities in the world
Paris bagged a very respectable 11th place in this ranking, with an overall score of 4.637/10. The organization considered specific criteria : safety and other important factors to reach this conclusion!
Quality of life, activities to do with children, monthly cost of living, parental leave, national spending on family aids, World Happiness score, percentage of child vaccinations, national spending on education, and the number of green spaces per inhabitant. Paris particularly stood out with high scores in the categories of activities to do with children (571) and the national vaccination rate for children (95.00%).Voir cette publication sur Instagram
Australia Tops the Rankings
With two of its cities in the top 5, Australia undeniably shines as the best country to start a family. Brisbane takes the top spot with a total score of 6.457/10. This East Coast city is followed by London (United Kingdom), then Auckland (New Zealand), Helsinki (Finland), and Sydney (Australia). Melbourne isn’t too far behind, landing in 7th place. On the flip side, the cities of Phoenix (USA), Durban (South Africa), and Mexico City (Mexico) fill the bottom three spots in the ranking.
