For the past few days, the video has been looping on TikTok and Instagram. In this video, a young woman explains to the camera that she was refused entry due to her outfit. This situation might seem unfortunately quite ordinary if we were talking about a restaurant or a nightclub. But this time, it actually happened on a bus. This sexist behavior thankfully prompted a quick response from the RATP.
Completely Inappropriate Behavior
For the past few months, the RATP has been racking up bad press. Between a fine of over a hundred euros for transporting a plant and a bus driver suspended for harassing a cyclist, it seems like they can't catch a break!
Harassed a cyclist, it's one of his colleagues who got it wrong this time, for having refused access to his vehicle to a passenger, simply because she was wearing, in his view, an outfit that was too short.🇫🇷 🚌 : Si vous voulez monter, baissez un peu vos vêtements » : voici ce qu’a déclaré un chauffeur de bus de la RATP à une femme, lui refusant l’entrée du bus au motif que sa tenue serait trop courte. pic.twitter.com/SXZu6q1mq1

« If you want to get on, just lower your clothes a little ». These were the shocking words from the driver of a bus on line 108 as he approached the victim, between Joinville and Champigny. Filmed by a friend, the young woman decided to not board the bus, before sharing the video on social media, in which she sadly felt the need to justify her outfit choice.
An investigation is underway
In response to the now-viral clip, the RATP made the decision to take firm action, by contacting the individual involved. They were able to locate the driver in question, who admitted to the incident, and was then suspended by the Paris transport authority. An internal investigation has been launched.

In a post on X (or Twitter, if you prefer), RATP firmly condemned this behavior, stating that such remarks were “ against the principles and values of RATP which require impeccable conduct from all its employees.” Just a reminder, the agency's regulations do not mention any dress code that travelers must adhere to.
