Here’s the good news of the week. From July 15 until the end of August, holders of a Pass Navigo will be able to travel on the Orlyval at no extra cost. This decision by the Paris transport authority comes in response to the start of the work on the RER B that began at the start of the summer holidays.

A rocky summer on the RER

Since this Tuesday, and until August 27 inclusive, no trains will be running on the RER B tracks between the La Croix de Berny and Massy-Palaiseau stations, in order to carry out a number of works. This project is long, complex, and unfortunately, impacts a large part of the line, which affects the daily lives of the people living in the area. To address this constraint, IDFM has...cute; it has been decided to offer this summer to users with a Navigo pass (weekly, monthly, or yearly) the chance to enjoy trips on the Orlyval at no extra cost. Just a reminder, this usually costs €13. A fantastic piece of news for the residents of Anthony, who will be able to use it to easily reach line 14, and thus the capital.

A Line Losing Speed

Not only is this action a gesture towards its passengers, but it's also a way for the regional company to shine a little light on the image of this transport line, which has been heavily neglected since the opening of Line 14 on its southern part — its ridership has dropped by half. This opening, by the way, has led to the demise of the Orlybus, which has been discontinued for several months now. As a reminder, using the metro comes with several significant advantages: it’s much faster than the airport's rail shuttle and also way cheaper, as it is included in the Navigo subscription. And the decline isn't expected to stop here, as in a few years, the future Line 18 of the Grand Paris Express will also allow for easy access.
