It's a massive construction project currently underway in the heart of the 14th arrondissement. And for good reason, for the past few months a one-of-a-kind project has been in the works: transforming the former third space of the Plateau Urbain collective into an eco-neighborhood like no other. On the agenda: nearly 600 homes, shops, a theater…
A new chapter
Between 2015 and 2020, Grands Voisins occupied the former Saint-Vincent-de-Paul hospital complex, just steps away from Denfert-Rochereau, offering us one of Paris's first third spaces. For 5 years, Parisians enjoyed cultural and educational events, along with a bar and dining scene, with profits going toward funding for the homeless people.
La belle expérience des Grands Voisins prend bientôt fin pour laisser place au futur écoquartier St Vincent de Paul et son 1er projet d'habitat social participatif à #Paris.

Today, a brand new chapter is opening with the transformation of the brownfield site into an eco-neighborhood, offering affordable housing (half of the 600 apartments on offer), plus a nursery, a gym, a theater in the former chapel, a QG café, and shared spaces, all set in a green and peaceful setting. Shop-studios will also open, with 18 still available if you'd like to set up shop there.
An opening coming very soon
And great news—you won't have to wait too long to discover all of this, since the first zone of this 2.0 neighborhood will open to the public in spring 2027
— and knowing we're already in autumn, let's just say it's going to fly by fast. A second phase should break ground in 2028, and the overall project should be finalized in 2030. And for those who don't feel like waiting that long, no worries, open doors are being organized from October 9 to 11 next by Yes We Camp, one of the collectives that already brought the Grands Voisins to life!
