Yay! It's official now! Just like the Louvre did, the Eiffel Tower is raising its entrance fees too. On Monday, March 4, Jean-François Martins, the president of the Eiffel Tower operating company (SETE), announced that ticket prices will go up by 20%, according to France Bleu Paris. The new prices are set to start in the summer of 2024. How exciting!

A ticket for over 30 euros

Want to see the stunning view from the top of the Eiffel Tower? It'll cost you around 31 euros, according to Jean-François Martins. Currently, adult tickets cost 29.40 euros for the elevator ride to the top and 22.40 euros if you climb the stairs. Heading up to the 2nd floor is more affordable, with prices ranging from 11.80 euros to 18.80 euros. This decision comes after employees went on strike to protest the tower's condition and financial issues. "The Eiffel Tower is thriving! It's in great shape and undergoing its most ambitious renovation in history," the SETE president stated.

COVID as the main cause of this increase

The reason for this sharp rise? The COVID-19 pandemic. Despite welcoming a record number of visitors in 2023 with 6.3 million visitors, the Eiffel Tower is still facing financial challenges due to the months of closures. "COVID has cost us about 250 million euros, it's a huge amount", says Jean-François Martins.
