Metro: it's official, Line 8 is no longer the worst in Paris!

Since the dawn of time (or at least since it opened), the Paris metro has been under construction. That's definitely the impression it gives. While these repeated disruptions and closures are extremely frustrating on a daily basis, it seems they are paying off, allowing some lines that weren't exactly user-friendly to improve their performance day by day, much to our delight.

A miracle in the making

A few days ago, the punctuality report from Île-de-France Mobilités for February 2026 (the most recent one to date) was made public. And one thing’s for sure, it held a nice surprise for us. Indeed, after dominating the ranking of the least punctual lines in the capital in 2024, with woeful scores...ants, and a improvement that is far from sufficient in 2025, since the beginning of the year, the line 8 is finally coming up for air.

Indeed, in February, the light purple line achieved a lovely punctuality score of 93.06%, which is an increase of over 4% compared to January, bringing the cumulative percentage between the two months to a two-point higher score than the forecasts for the year, a first for the line! Behind this victory are significant modernization works initiated in recent years, which are starting to bear fruit.

A Few Troublemakers Remain

Unfortunately, this comeback for line 8 is not a reality for all lines, and some still remain well below the RATP's objectives for the year at the beginning of this year. Unsurprisingly, this is the case for line 13, which is amongthe worst metros in the world, let's not forget, which at the start of this year is still 6.8 points below its ideal score, with a punctuality rate of only 85.22%. It is followed by line 6 — which has slightly improved since its catastrophic score last November —, then line 12, and finally the 3-3bis combo. So there you have it, you now know which trains to avoid, and in the meantime, let's keep cheering for line 8 for its wonderful progress.
