We're familiar with Dry January, that challenge where you don’t drink alcohol for the first month of the year. And now, a new challenge is making its debut in 2026: OFF February. The concept? Disconnecting from social media for 28 days. This initiative was developed when the National Assembly voiced support for banning social media for those under 15, and French people are saying they are more inclined to break free from their screens rather than from alcoholic drinks.

According to a recent study conducted by Ipsos BVA, screams play a central role in the daily lives of 58% of the French population and 85% of 18-34 year-olds. Among them, 36% would like to reduce their screen time, which includes both social networks and video platforms. Interviewed by HuffPost, Victor Fersing, founder of the media La Fabrique sociale and in charge of OFF in France, is clear: « It is through collective responses that we can free ourselves from the grip of social networks. » By offering a challenge accessible to as many people as possible, the idea is to « r&e ```Reducing social media usage » while not feeling isolated. « We’re not always on social media by choice, but because we don’t really have a choice », he adds.
