As tradition has dictated since 2014, the Eiffel Tower will light up in pink to mark the beginning of this prevention month. Meanwhile, an evening hosted by journalist Leïla Kaddour-Boudadi will take place at the foot of the Eiffel Tower and bring together scientists, patrons, and sponsors supporting the Pink Ribbon association. Personalities like Jain, Jeanne Cherhal, Zaz, and Esther Abrami will offer musical moments during this special evening.
More than 61,000 new cases of breast cancer each year
Breast cancer affects one in eight women and remains, to this day, the leading cause of cancer death in women. When caught early, it can be cured in 9 out of 10 cases. Yet today, one in two women doesn't get screened and more than 61,000 new cases are detected each year. It's therefore essential to have an annual check-up starting at age 25, as well as screening for women between 50 and 74 years old, with a mammogram every two years.
The symbol of this disease, the pink ribbon, was created in 1992 with a clear mission: to support research, drive it forward, and raise awareness among women of all ages, since 40% of women affected are under 40.
