There are several elements that indicate that the year is coming to an end. We could talk about the supermarkets turning into chocolate factories. Or how Paris becomes a real disco ball with all those lights everywhere. But for Parisians, the real sign, the one that truly counts, is the announcement of the new Navigo pass price. And 2025 is no exception, as the transport company finally revealed on December 10th what to expect starting January 1, 2026. We’ll tell you everything.

More than 20€ extra per year

For a few years now, the Paris public transport network has been continuously growing and improving to provide us with the most comprehensive service possible. However, such modernization work comes with costs. This definitely comes with a cost, and oddly enough, it's often the same folks who end up paying the price: the users. And 2026 won't be any different, as according to an agreement made two years ago between the government and IDFM, they can raise their rates without worry, aligning with the announced inflation rate of 1.3% for the upcoming year. And just so you know, this will last until 2031.

This year, there will be no rest for the brave! If Madame Irma was kind enough to predict the cost needed to stroll peacefully through the metro corridors, bad news, we are going to lose a kidney... or two. Indeed, in a few weeks, the monthly Navigo Pass will surpass the symbolic mark of 90€, reaching a total of 90.80€ per month. As for the annual pass, it's the same situation, reaching dizzying heights with a subscription costing nearly 1000€ per year: 998.80€. An absolutely outrageous amount that no one will be able to escape.

All in the Same Boat

And since happiness never comes alone, Navigo Pass holders will obviously not be exempt.

not the only ones affected by this increase. On the side of single tickets, it's 5 cents more for everyone, meaning €2.55 for the metro and RER, and €2.05 for the bus and tram. The airport transport tickets will go from €13 to €14. Finally, holders of Liberté+ will also need to shell out a few more cents, going from €1.99 to €2.04 in the metro, and €1.60 to €1.64 in the bus and tram. The bottom line is, we'll have to tighten our belts, or switch to biking as soon as possible !
