It’s official, the Sainte-Cécile market is finally set to open in the fall of 2025. A new weekly gathering for all the locals, who will no longer need to travel to the Place d’Anvers for their shopping. This is fantastic news for food lovers like us, as the creation of this market gives us one more spot to find great products in the streets of the capital.
A Long-Awaited Project
This is big news for the residents of the 9th arrondissement. After over 10 years of relentless requests, the plan for a new food market has finally been approved by the Paris Council. In fact, it was back in 2014 that the topic was first brought up by Delphine Bürkli, who was already the mayor at the time. Four years later, in 2018, it was taken up with great enthusiasm.eilles of the Paris Council, without success. In 2023, a public consultation was conducted in the district, and to say the least, the project was overwhelmingly supported, as 95.7% of the 1,902 participants were in favor. However, it wasn't until this blessed month of April 2025 that the proposal was finally accepted.

An Attractive Offer
In the upcoming new market, set to open next September, there will be more than 180 meters of stalls located between Rue Saint-Cécile (which inspired the market's name) and Rue du Conservatoire, right next door. On site, “everyone will be able to access fruits, vegetables, cheeses, meats, and fish at reasonable prices,” explains Nicolas Bonnet-Oulaldj, the Paris City Hall official in charge of commerce. This is fantastic news for local shopkeepers, as well as for nearby farmers, whose business greatly depends on markets like this. And to top it all off, this brand new market will be located less than a 5-minute walk from La Parisienne bakery, on Rue du Faubourg Poissonnière, which has just been...acute;lue best baguette in Île-de-France. The perfect way to finish your shopping beautifully!
J'ai parlé avec une habitante de la rue Sainte-Cécile qui devrait bientôt voir arriver un marché hebdomadaire à la demande de @Mairie9Paris et des habitants.
