Paris's back-to-school season sometimes brings lovely surprises. While the traditional Paris Carnival had to be cancelled last March due to lack of funding, a brand new event is about to take its place in the capital's streets. Its name? The Pigalle Carnival. And let me warn you right away, it's bound to become the most festive gathering of September.
A brand new carnival to bring Pigalle to life
On Saturday, September 26th, the Pigalle neighborhood will transform into an enormous open-air playground for the very first edition of the Pigalle Carnival. For one late summer afternoon, the neighborhood's streets will host a free grand parade bringing together artists, musicians, circus performers and costumed dancers.

The parade will stretch from Boulevard de Clichy to Square d'Anvers, promising a stroll as festive as it is spectacular. Great news for lovers of popular celebrations, especially since the famous Paris Carnival, whose origins date back to the Middle Ages and which had found a second wind in the late 1990s, unfortunately didn't take place this year. But in Pigalle, there's no question of letting gloom settle in. Here, we're celebrating the return in grand style, both literally and figuratively.
A great participatory parade themed around nature
This new carnival is part of the Montmartre Festival programming, with its 4th edition taking place from September 25 to 27 between Pigalle, Anvers and Montmartre Hill. For three days, the neighborhood will pulse with concerts, performances, outdoor projections and countless activities. The highlight? This grand participatory parade imagined around a theme as poetic as it is unexpected: "For
Life and Photosynthesis ». Nature will therefore be at the heart of the festivities, with fauna, flora, and costumes inspired by the living world.View this post on Instagram
To set the mood, an artistic troupe will parade alongside the P'tit Poulbots Band, promising a cheerful and truly Montmartre atmosphere. And the best news of all? The audience is invited to join the parade. The perfect opportunity to dust off your finest costume, whether it's floral, leafy, or completely wild!
