The Navigo Pass is going to have a big change next month

Last year, a big revolution took place in the Paris metro corridors. After months, no, years of waiting, Apple mobile users finally got to experience the joy of having their transport ticket on their phone, long after Android users. But until now, no matter what brand of phone you had, this privilege was still reserved for the lucky few. Luckily, that should change starting next month, thanks to this big upheaval.

Having your Navigo pass on your phone? Sounds good! Making this tip accessible to iPhone holders? No problem! What about those with a Monthly Pass or a Liberté+? Oh no, that's a bit too much. That's what the RATP announcements have been hinting at for months now. For far too long, only holders of certain specific subscriptions could enjoy this super handy service. So, when will everyone get an equal shot? Great news, it’s coming in June, just a few days away!


Is the change happening now?

The Liberté+ Pass, as you've surely gathered from our many articles dedicated to this topic, is truly amazing – especially if you don't have to take the metro every morning and evening, of course!

A little miracle card that lets you pay at the end of the month for only the trips you take, while enjoying a discount on the ticket price. Proof of its absolutely amazing nature: it has already captivated over a million users! However, for now, you'll have to settle for a physical pass, as there’s no access to this service directly on your phone.

But we have some fantastic news: if this practice was partly hindered by the differences in fare from one trip to another and the lack of access to certain areas with the Pass Liberté+, since the introduction of the single ticket, there's nothing holding you back anymore! The result: the system will be in place starting June 2025, whether you have an iPhone or an Android.


A little revolution for users

No more having to spend hours searching your bag or your pockets in hopes of finding the sacred little card. Starting June 1st, all you have to do is show the back of your phone, even if it's out of battery, to get to the other side of the turnstiles!

Tourniquets or doors. You just need to remember to activate the validation option from your IDFM app, and you're all set!

We can’t wait to join the big family of tech-savvy people! Here’s a little bit of bad news, though: for those with a Annual Pass, due to the high number of subscribers and the risk of fraud, you’ll need to hang tight a little longer before you can show off at the metro entrance, because this option won’t be available to you until the end of 2025. Stay strong; just a few more months to go!
