For over 130 years, the Wepler brasserie has been welcoming passersby in search of a coffee, a comforting meal, or a good dose of Parisian spirit. Yet, on April 1st, it closed its doors for no less than 5 years to undergo a complete renovation, from the kitchen to the dining room. A massive project that aims to restore this legendary address to its former glory.
A landmark for everyone
Since 1892, Wepler has been a true reference in the 18th. With its kitchen open continuously from 7:30 AM to midnight, it's the place to be any time of day for breakfast, a lunchtime break, an afternoon snack, dinner, or even an after-party for some. At first, seafood restaurant, it transformed at the end of the 19th century to become the brasserie we know today — all while keeping its status as a top oyster bar of the capital!

A place that is truly at the top of the cultural scene in the capital, where artists like Guillaume Apollinaire, Pablo Picasso, Amedeo Modigliani, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Claude Chabrol, François Truffaut, and Pierre Bonnard frequently gather. Its connection to art doesn’t stop there, as in the 1950s, part of the space was bought and transformed into a cinema: the Pathé Wepler!
An institution undergoing a joyous transformation
But here’s the thing, a place this popular, it needs some care, and even though most of the equipment and decor had already been replaced since its opening, it became important to give it a little sprucing up. That’s why...
On April 1st, the restaurant closed its doors — and no, it wasn't a joke — and this until September 2026. When it reopens, it will unveil renovated or completely redone decor in the spirit of the last century, to replace the works and replicas set up in 2011.
