2026 brings a wave of heartbreaking news… After the announcement of the closure of Sample in Bagnolet, it's now our dear Station – Gare des Mines in the 18th that delivers the sad news of its interruption. This Wednesday evening, April 15th, the Collectif MU – leading the project – announces the temporary closure (phew) of La Station for nearly three years. A chapter closes after ten years of existence. So, if you danced here, created here, or simply found something that resonated with you, it’s time to support the place so that the project can stay alive.

A haven for Parisians for 10 years

Opened in June 2016 on the Avenue de la Porte d’Aubervilliers, La Station – Gare des Mines is one of the most unique places on the Parisian scene. A spot that brings people together, around concerts, club nights, web radio, artistic residencies, community workshops, gardening… In a building that calls for encounters and community. Because La Station is

This too: a space and a refuge for visibility for all queer and marginalized communities, with a regular program of support and solidarity actions for exiled individuals. The Station represents Parisians in all their diversity.

Three Years of Closure Starting This Autumn

The good news is that the closure isn't permanent. In fact, the City of Paris supports the longevity of the site, after ten years of precarious leases renewed year after year. This recognition comes at a cost, as the site will close for renovation for three years starting this autumn, to allow for a fresh, renewed neighborhood, with a brand new Station at its heart.

During this transitional period, the venue's mission is to find a temporary space to keep the team and projects alive, so we can carry on the spirit of La Station. Three years of closure is a long time for a place that relies 85% on its own income (ticket sales, bar...) and only 15% on public funding. The Collectif MU is therefore calling for donations during this time and is also setting up a support ticket price for some events, for those who can afford it.

In the meantime, until October 31, La Station – Gare des Mines is still buzzing with excitement, always maintaining the same artistic standards and unwavering support for emerging talents. So until autumn, let’s keep the good times rolling. Come on over for music, dancing, and workshops... The future is still ours to write.
