The question came up during the many holidays in May and it resurfaces as we approach July 14th. This year, National Day falls on a Monday, giving most of us the chance for a long weekend or even an early vacation start. For those who will stay in Paris, the big question is: what can we do? What will be open? What will be closed? Here’s the list for you!
What’s Open on July 14th
Public Transport
Most Parisian public transport will continue to operate normally. However, some disruptions are to be expected. For the Transiliens, trains will not stop at the stations of Cham.
For the March 14th event - Eiffel Tower and Alma Bridge will close at 7 PM. On the metro side, service will be interrupted between the Porte Dauphine and Charles-de-Gaulle - Étoile stations on Line 2 throughout the day. The Boissières station (Line 6) and Avenue Foch station (RER C) will be closed, just like the Hôtel-de-Ville station (Lines 1 and 11) starting from 3 PM. From 7 PM, the Trocadéro stations (Lines 6 and 9), La Motte-Picquet - Grenelle (Lines 6, 8, 10), École Militaire (Line 8), Alma-Marceau (Line 9), Iéna (Line 9), and Pasteur (Lines 6 and 12) will be closed. The Saint-Philippe-du-Roule station (Line 9) will join the list starting at 11 PM.

Museums and Monuments
A large part of Parisian museums and monuments will remain open on July 14th. This includes landmarks like Notre-Dame, Sacré-Cœur, the Panthéon, the Conciergerie, Sainte-Chapelle, the Louvre, the Bourse de Commerce, the Jacquemart-André Museum, the Louis Vuitton Foundation, the Army Museum, and the Maillol Museum, to name a few. Most of the châteaux in the Île-de-France region will also be accessible, such as the Châteaux of Chantilly, Fontainebleau, and Versailles. The Arc de Triomphe and the Orangerie Museum will be closed in the morning, while the Palais Garnier will be open from 10 AM to 2 PM.

Department stores and shopping centers
Most department stores will remain open, adjusting their hours. On Monday, July 14th, you can count on Galeries Lafayette and Printemps Haussmann (11 AM - 8 PM), BHV Marais (12 PM - 8 PM), Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche (10 AM - 7:45 PM), and La Samaritaine (10 AM - 8 PM). The same goes for Westfield Forum des Halles, the Carrousel du Louvre, Bercy Village, and the Beaugrenelle shopping center.
