It's been over a month since we had a public holiday, and to be honest, those famous long weekends were starting to feel like a distant memory! Good news, Friday, August 15, Assumption Day, is just around the corner, giving us a chance to enjoy a well-deserved break or an extended vacation. For those who will be staying in Paris, it's yet another opportunity to explore the capital and its many cultural offerings. Let’s check in on what will be open that day!

The Museums

Want some delightful news? Most of the museums in the capital and the surrounding châteaux will be open on Friday, August 15. Some will even host special programming during this weekend. Get ready to enjoy The Louvre, the Dalí Museum, the Museum of...

’Illusion, the Natural History Museum, the Gainsbourg House, the Chocolate Museum, or even the châteaux of Fontainebleau, Vincennes, or even Versailles. This will be a great opportunity to enjoy exhibitions that will be ending soon, like the one dedicated to David Hockney at the Louis Vuitton Foundation (ending on August 31), or the one about Disco at the Philharmonie de Paris (ending on August 17).

On the other hand, the Nissim de Camondo museum, the Museum of Hunting and Nature, and the Paris Mint will be closed

The Monuments

Just like the museums, the must-see monuments of Paris will be open for visits, giving you a chance to dive into the heart of the local heritage. The Panthéon, the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, the summit of the Montparnasse Tower, or even the Generali balloon will be accessible and will let you reach new heights.

Paris Beaches and Swimming in the Seine

If there's one weekend to enjoy Paris Beaches, it's the one on August 15th. At La Villette, by the Canal Saint-Martin, and in the Marie branch… The swimming spots are plentiful, just like the places to relax on a sunbed by the water. It's a great way to fully enjoy the remaining summer days before the back-to-school season!

fairs, festivals, and outdoor cinemas

A public holiday means a day full of fun, not boredom! At the Tuileries Garden, for example, the fair will be in full swing with a multitude of rides ready to give the most extreme sensations to both young and old. Movie lovers will also get their fill with several free screenings offered at La Villette. On August 15th at 6 PM, Madagascar will be screened, while at 9 PM it will be Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. On the music side, the Disney Music Festival will continue to enchant kids and adults alike in the eponymous park, which will of course remain open this weekend!agrave;.
