She's the record-breaking Miss! This Saturday evening, the joy of Angélique Angarni-Filopon was tangible: in the heart of the Futuroscope Arena in Poitiers, Miss Martinique was showered with applause, bouquet in hand and crown on her head, after winning the 95th title of Miss France, following in the footsteps of the northern beauty Eve Gilles. Journey, age, commitments… Here are five key points to remember about this vibrant woman.

1. She was the first runner-up of Miss Martinique in 2011

This victory was a dream come true for Angélique Angarni-Filopon, who had wished for this moment for many years: she had actually tried her luck over 10 years ago. In 2011, she entered the Miss Martinique pageant at the age of 20 years. "In 2011, a young woman aged 20 became the first runner-up in the Miss Martinique contest. Today, it’s this same young woman [...] standing before you to represent Martinique once again, its diaspora, and all the women who were told one day that it was too late for them," she declared during the ceremony. This Miss isn't one to give up, and her determination finally paid off!

2. She’s the First Martiniquaise to be Crowned Miss France

Angélique Angarni-Filopon is the Miss of the "firsts" : with this victory, which was awarded by the jury and not the public - according to the results of the contest, delivered by notary master Simonin - she enables Martinique to achieve its first title of Miss France. In 95 editions, indeed, the Miss Martinique candidates had never brought back a crown to the Overseas department.

3. She’s the first Miss in her thirties

Until recently, the age limit for participating in the Miss France pageant was set at 24 years. However, two years ago, the criteria were relaxed, paving the way for a wider variety of contestants. This is how Angélique Angarni-Filopon, at 34 years old, was able to compete and earn the prestigious title of beauty queen. While she doesn’t want to be defined by her age, she proudly embraces the advantages of being in her thirties. "I’ve gained in maturity, I have more confidence, and I express myself better than at 20," she shared in an interview with TF1’s 1 PM news. "I have incredible energy," she added enthusiastically, reminding everyone that "34 is young!"

4. She is a flight attendant

Angélique Angarni-Filopon, who has transitioned from insurance to the skies, has been working as a flight attendant with Corsair for two years, connecting the Caribbean to the mainland. It's a job that's as exciting as it is demanding: "It's not an easy job. We're not just waitresses in the air; it's so much more than that." Used to handling stress under the watchful eyes of passengers – "When we do safety demonstrations, we have 372 eyes on us", she jokes – this experience will surely be invaluable as she takes on the challenges of her new life as Miss France.

5. She is committed to fighting breast cancer

"I want to help women affected by breast cancer. Makeup and hairstyling help me gain confidence, so it can also help them take care of themselves and reveal their beauty after illness," she explained during the ceremony. She has even seen her mother affected by breast cancer, before overcoming it, as she shared on the stage of the Arena Futuroscope. "Life has taught me that giving up is absolutely not an option. My mother, who is present here, suffered from breast cancer, which gives me a deep personal connection to this cause."
