It’s been months—no, years—now since we’ve been hearing about the opening of the Grand Paris Express lines. And while each of these lines is supposed to change the daily lives of many Parisians, the one we’re most excited about is line 17, and for a fantastic reason: it will provide a direct metro line to Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle airport.
From One Airport to Another
Measuring 26.5 km, crossing 13 municipalities and featuring 9 stations, the future IDFM network line will connect the station Saint-Denis-Pleyel to Mesnil-Amelot. This is a little revolution, as the future trains will make not just one, but two airports directly accessible by metro. And looking at the success of the extension of line 14 to Orly, it’s safe to say this is wonderful news!

10 raisons de pourquoi la ligne 17 du Grand Paris Express sera la meilleure ligne de métro de la région !

First of all, line 17 will connect to the Bourget airport. And even though it’s primarily a business or training airport, we think this is already great news! Especially since it hosts the amazing Aerospace and Air Museum, and knowing we can get there in a flash by train makes us super happy. Then (and especially), this new line will connect the capital – or almost – to Roissy airport! To get there, all you need to do now is reach Saint-Denis Pleyel with line 14, and then zoom straight north with line 17. It will connect this key point in record time: less than 25 minutes to cover the entire line.
A Transformed Daily Life
Thanks to this new line, the daily lives of over 500,000 residents in the Île-de-France area will be completely changed.
, and for the best. And why not? Not only does it serve the airports, but it will also stop at major activity hubs in the region, where thousands of people work. Unfortunately, due to construction delays that seem never-ending, even though we are very excited about the idea of taking a plane via the metro (instead of that hellish RER B), we’ll have to wait a little longer. The first section, which will go to Bourget, won’t be accessible until 2027, and for the rest, that is Roissy, we’ll have to wait until 2030!Le Grand Paris Express, non ce n’est pas du vent.

➡️ Ligne 18 ouvre en octobre 2026
➡️ Ligne 15 Sud juste après (tests en cours)
➡️ Lignes 16 et 17 arrivent ensuite (oui en retard, mais bien réelles)
C’est du métro auto XXL.
