Taking the metro every day to get to work, is like participating in the Hunger Games, 365 days a year. Every morning, commuters wait anxiously to find out whether they'll be among today’s sacrifices due to construction, travelers on the tracks, or even, though it's rare, a bomb threat. Fortunately, sometimes it's possible to anticipate a few disruptions, like during a strike. And that's the case today, as RATP announced yesterday a social movement that will affect only one line, and not just any line: Line 13.

A double whammy for the worst line in Paris

According to the announcements available since yesterday on the RATP website, the entire line will be affected by this disruption, starting at the opening of the stations at the crack of dawn. No stop will be spared, and, in m...On average, you can expect only 2 trains out of 3 all day long. Considering that line 13 is already a very unstable line and often crowded, we just want to tell you, it might be a nightmare to get around throughout the day. To make it through, you have several options: stay cozy at home (long live remote work), choose a more efficient alternative like line 14, or switch to surface transportation: the bus, biking, or walking.

The Beginning of the Struggles

Be careful, though, this social movement is just the first phase of a loooooong series of closures on line 13. Indeed, this line will be inaccessible no less than 16 times throughout the year. Well, in (almost) all cases, it’s closures until noon on a Sunday, but still, it doesn’t help polish the reputation of this otherwise very handy line. In the meantime, we wish lots of courage to everyone who will have to wait in line on the platform to catch a train today, and we’ll see you next time for some new joyful RATPesque updates.
