Metro in Paris: RATP launches an official certificate to justify your delays at work

In recent years, the price of the Navigo Pass has soared to heights we never thought possible. It's a staggering fare that leaves us even more contemplative when we see the number of disruptions and delays we face every day. Fortunately, this new tip might help a little!

We know that taking the metro in Paris, isn't always easy. Unfortunately, some take advantage of this excuse every day to justify their constant tardiness, even at work. But this new service implemented by the Paris transport authority could now help distinguish the truth from the lies, and especially allow some to receive compensation when they are simply dealing with problems beyond their control.

As a respectable Parisian, we may spend a good part of our time complaining about the capital's metro, but we must admit that it provides us with a number of services. And above all, it’s not that bad, and it's getting better and better. Not only do some of its lines and stations rank among the best in the world, but it also improves year after year.

Unfortunately, some lines, especially line 6, line 13, and the RER lines, are still lagging behind a bit, sometimes causing us penalties, like at work. Delays that, without proof, can be pinned on you, and in some cases can even justify salary deductions. Luckily, this might change soon!


« It's not my fault »

Indeed, the RATP has just launched a dedicated page (you can find it right here) where you can download delays certificates in case there's an issue on the line you're using. Getting it is super simple; just fill out the form (takes about 1 minute and 30 seconds max), then download the document to present it to your employer, showing that your delay is completely beyond your control, and that it would be more than unfair to penalize you, whether financially or otherwise. This request can concern any line managed by the Paris transit authority, which includes the 16 metro lines (yes, we’re counting the express ones), the RER A and B.
