At the start of September, it's the end of vacation for everyone. For Parisians who are struggling to get back to work, as well as for the various unions, who are starting to threaten to strike in the coming weeks. And for this first half of the month, there are already 2 potential black days for the metro on the horizon. Here’s all the info.

A nationwide strike in a few days

Next Wednesday, September 10, a general strike has been announced.

across the country to protest against the new measures from the Bayrou government, particularly the removal of 2 public holidays, as well as the budget cuts of 44 billion euros. A day of general mobilization that promises to be especially challenging for all Parisians. This is evident in the name of the collective that organized this gathering : “Let’s Block Everything”.

In reality, this is likely to generate a number of complications, since this mobilization will affect both SNCF and RATP. However, since this strike is not officially backed by any union, but rather by messages shared on the social networks from the mentioned group, neither of these two companies has announced any specific disruptions at this time. We advise you to keep an eye on their respective networks and to limit your travel as much as possible on that day.

The RATP unions are doubling down

And just as good news never comes alone, this challenging day shouldn't be the last one. Indeed, a more "official" strike is on the horizon from the RATP unions.

rc;té of the RATP unions for the upcoming Thursday, September 18. The 4 major unions of the Paris transport authority are calling for «a day of strike and massive demonstration ». Once again, this day « unitary and interprofessional » aims to fight against the 2026 budget proposal.

Once again, no specific information has come out on the subject just yet, but we already know that the protest will impact all types of transport, from air traffic to train services, including the subway as well. The traffic forecasts will be announced, as always, between 24 and 48 hours before the start of the strike. We’ll keep you updated!
