Thursday, July 9, 2026 is sure to go down in history! Tomorrow, France will take on Morocco in the quarter-finals of the World Cup. A match as anticipated as it is daunting, it will be crucial and, we hope, will propel the French team to the semi-finals, or even the finals. And since it promises to get both the French and especially Parisians buzzing, security measures have been put in place by the police prefecture, starting at 9 PM. Let’s take a look!

Seven metro lines heavily disrupted

It's especially on the metro side that there will be disruptions. On lines 1 and 2, the stop Charles de Gaulle-Étoile will not be served. On line 6, traffic will be interrupted between Charles de Gaulle-Étoile and Trocadéro, indicates the RATP. On the lines 8, 9, 12, and 14, accessing the stations or stopping at Argentine, George V, Madeleine, Miromesnil, Ternes, and Tuileries will not be possible.

The Champs-Élysées Area Closed Off

So, it’s the Champs-Élysées area that will mainly be closed to the public on match day. Along with this, there’s a ban on transporting fuel in jerry cans between July 9th and 10th. The prefecture is particularly worried about a “high risk of serious public disorder.” Back in 2022, France faced Morocco in the semi-finals, which caused damage and violence on the Champs-Élysées. A little tip: plan your trips ahead and steer clear of the most famous avenue in the world. Just a reminder, the kickoff for the match taking place in Boston will be at 10 PM.
