Due to the international space summit taking place today and tomorrow in Paris, this metro station served by two of the capital's busiest lines will unfortunately be closed for at least 48 hours on Wednesday, September 9th and Thursday, September 10th. Fair warning—it's going to be a hassle!

Attention users of Paris's oldest subway line, I'm talking about line 1, and also those unlucky enough to deal with the worst line in the world every single day, aka line 13. According to the RATP and the Paris police prefecture, the Champs-Élysées - Clemenceau station will be closed on September 9 and 10, ahead of the international space summit, currently taking place at the Grand Palais.


An international gathering...

For 2 days, the Grand Palais, which has become an unmissable institution in the capital since its comeback for the Olympics two years ago, is hosting the International Space Summit. For 2 days, there will be no fewer than 2,000 participants from around the world, including

heads of state, business representatives and international organizations, scientists, and none other than our one and only Thomas Pesquet — aka our collective idol, let's be honest —, who will be there to discuss the importance of space challenges and our future in this field. All the players in the international space community will therefore be present to « give new momentum to multilateral governance », according to the government.


Not Without Consequences.

And inevitably, faced with such a gathering, massive prevention and security measures are essential to ensure the smooth running of these two days of events. Thus, the Paris Police Prefecture has announced that the Champs-Élysées - Clemenceau metro station, which serves the Grand Palais via lines 1 and 13, will be closed for the entire duration of the event. In detail, the station is inaccessible from when service opens this morning until it closes tomorrow. Trains will run without stopping, and of course, no connections are available.
