Yes, for some time now, the line 10 of the metro has been getting ready to be the first to welcome the new MF19 trains, but it seems its modernization may not stop there. This is definitely what the association La Grande 10 has been advocating for several years, aiming to create about ten new stations to extend the brown line all the way to Vitry-sur-Seine. But is this transformation really possible?

What does the future hold for Line 10?

On the website of the association La Grande 10, you can read in great detail about the desired project. It's an extension of the line in 2 parts, adding a total of 8 or 9 new stations. Initially, the idea would be to add around 4 km of tracks, connecting the Austerlitz station, the current terminus, to Gambetta Square in Ivry.

r-Seine. To achieve this, 5 new stations would be necessary (Chevaleret, Bibliothèque François Mitterrand, Bruneseau, Ivry-Mandela and Ivry-Gambetta), thus connecting line 10 to lines 6, 14, T3a and RER C. In a second phase, 3 or 4 new stations spread over a little more than 3 km could link Ivry to the gare des Ardoines in Vitry-sur-Seine.

Is a tangible realization possible ?

So yes, it's all very nice, but in reality, is it an official project or just an illusion from La Grande 10 ? Since 2013, this project has been included in the master plan for the Île-de-France Region as a potential development. And while it has been at a standstill for a long time, there has been a gentle breeze of change sweeping through the line 10 in recent months. Last June, elected officials from Val-de-Marne reaffirmed their commitment to seeing the project come to fruition. Just a few days later, at the beginning of July, the State and the Île-de-France Region launched the "study program for extension projects and the creation of metro lines," which officially studies 15 extension projects for the metro. ute;tro, not the one from 10. Rather good news for those attached to the project. But we do want to warn you, no definitive answer will be given before 2027.
