When you live in Paris, you're subject to a lot of sources of anxiety. Among them is waking up every morning with the fear that our favorite metro line will be the next to shut its doors for various renovation works and more. And at the end of March, it was the users of line 12 who faced the news. The RATP announced total or partial closures 3 times for the pine green line during the month of April, with the next one happening this weekend.

More renovations, always renovations

If, at first, a partial closure was announced for the 12th and 13th of April, it will actually take place in just a few days, on the 19th and 20th,

It will be right during the Easter weekend, which should delight all the tourists who took advantage of the public holiday to take a tour around the capital. For two days, no trains will run between Concorde and Montparnasse, blocking the stations Assemblée nationale, Solférino, Rue du Bac, Sèvres-Babylone, Rennes, and Notre-Dame-des-Champs. In the meantime, the two aforementioned stops will be upgraded to the temporary title (but still quite honorable) of temporary terminals, Concorde from Mairie d’Aubervilliers and Montparnasse from Mairie d’Issy.

Behind this closure, which is partial but still quite annoying, are plans to renew the track circuits. These interventions are "essential to ensure the safety of travelers and preserve the durability of the structures," as RATP explains on its website. If it's for our safety, then we can accept skipping the Musée d'Orsay for 2 days. See, we're really ready to make all kinds of sacrifices. And the worst part is that the RATP hasn't even planned any replacement buses! Well, we might be exaggerating a bit, it's simply because line 94 already serves all the affected stops. Phew.

A mixed month for line 12

This weekend is and will not be the only black mark for line 12 in April, as the line has already faced a complicated evening on Sunday. On April 13th, there will be a complete shutdown of the line starting at 10 PM and lasting until the end of service. This situation is set to happen again very soon, on Sunday, April 27th 2025. Well, even though this time it affects the entire line, we can all agree that it’s less disruptive for everyone than a partial closure, since it’s only a matter of a few hours. Especially because we don’t know about you, but for us, Sunday at 10 PM is bedtime, in order to be ready for the week, right…
