People often say that the metros are running late, and some use this excuse way too much to explain their unexpected delays. However, if we believe the latest report from IDFM released in mid-November, either your friends are boldly lying to you, or they really, really have the worst luck. Because according to the numbers presented, with a few exceptions, the Parisian metro has shown some punctuality at the beginning of 2025.

Trains Always on Time

Often, when we receive news from RATP or IDFM at the office, we expect the worst. Construction, strikes, line openings postponed… Yet, this week, we were pleasantly surprised to discover this brand new report from the Île-de-France public transport company. According to this report, between January and September 2025, a remarkable 11 out of 14 lines exceeded their punctuality goals.

6 lines stand out particularly, achieving an impressive 100% performance during peak hours. These are of course the 3 automatic lines (lines 1, 4, and 4), but also lines 2, 5, and 10, which have clearly shone particularly brightly in recent months. It's an extraordinary rate, which IDFM attributes to the various modernization works that have taken place recently, allowing all these lines to significantly exceed their targets.

One line struggling

Overall, this report is rather positive for RATP, which explains that all lines are above 90% punctuality, and that these numbers are improving day by day. However, one of these lines is still close to receiving a red card, and surprisingly, we didn't expect it to be this one. Indeed, t, as of the latest news, it was still line 8 taking the crown for the most delayed line, which wasn't much of a surprise, as disruptions were as common as a chunk of butter in a Breton's fridge.

No, this time, surprise, it’s Line 6 that only reaches 90.16% punctuality, which is a drop of 1.8% compared to its target, set at 92%. A little disappointment regarding this line that we’ve liked up until now. It’s followed by Line 13 (much less of a surprise on that side), Line 12 — very often under construction these past months — and finally Line 8. We kind of saw that coming too…
