As if the various construction projects by the RATP hadn't been numerous enough since the beginning of the year, the Parisian transport authority announced on Tuesday, February 25 that a new line closure will soon be added to the list. And since the game of construction in the metro is an escalation of perpetual chaos, this time it's going to impact no less than 6 weeks of interruptions, starting at the beginning of spring 2025.

Entire evenings of closures

We know that in recent years, modernizing the Parisian metro to make it more efficient has become a major challenge for the RATP. Line by line, the announcements keep coming and resemble each other, blocking many stations for periods that are sometimes very (too) long. And this time, it's line 10 that is affected.

te;e, with a near-total interruption of the metro for no less than 6 weeks, between March 17 and April 29. During this entire period, no trains will run from 10 PM until the end of service, and this will be every day from Monday to Thursday. So, yes, it does leave all day and weekends free, but still, we think this is relatively noteworthy information, which might annoy more than one Parisian trying to get home after a little drink with colleagues, for example.

Burn to be reborn from the ashes

However, we want to reassure you right away. Yes, this work is going to be long and challenging, but know that it’s for a good cause. Indeed, it will only aim to implement transformations on the tracks in preparation for the arrival of the brand new MF19 trains. Because line 10, while not necessarily the most popular line in the network, will be the very first to welcome these new trains, starting at the end of 2025! To ensure a successful arrival of this next-generation metro (more or less), RATP guarantees that “certain infrastructures and station equipment need to be adapted […] this new rolling stock implies a modernization .made up of several essential elements for the smooth operation of trains, ranging from power systems to signaling equipment ». Anyway, good luck to everyone.
