Since the beginning of the year, there have been announcements about line closures from the transport authority that seem to follow one after the other, and unfortunately, they all feel somewhat similar. We’re facing total or partial closures that will last for quite a while, leading to big disruptions in the commuting habits of Parisians. After announcing major work on lines 6, 9, and 14, now it’s another line that’s getting ready to be at a standstill during the winter holidays.


Northern Paris is getting hit

And it’s the 3 line! Due to the renewal of track equipment, it’s not just 1 or 2, but rather 5 stations that will be inaccessible at the start of the ski school holidays, as they are called in the industry. This is a tough blow for the over 250,000 Parisians who use it daily to get to work.

Indeed, the line that usually travels from Gallieni (in Bagnolet) to Pont de Levallois will unfortunately be interrupted between this terminus and the Wagram station, located in the 8th, not far from Malesherbes and the Monceau Park. Therefore, the stops Pont de Levallois–Bécon, Anatole France, Louise Michel, Porte de Champerret, and Pereire will no longer be served during this whole period, making Wagram the temporary terminus.


A very inconvenient closure

And if the last time the line was closed (for 4 days during the ...All Saints' Holiday 2024), only two working days were affected this time, so those workers who aren’t off zooming down the slopes will have to deal with these changes for 4 days. Indeed, line 3, in its gorgeous khaki color, will be inaccessible from Saturday, February 15 to Thursday, February 20 inclusive. So that's 6 days of closure out of 28, which is a nice ratio for a month that's shorter than the others.

Well, a replacement bus will obviously be available, as will connections (more or less approximate) thanks to other lines, especially the L and J transiliens for those heading to Levallois. It's definitely much less convenient and fast, we all agree on that, but it's something. And unfortunately, we'd rather warn you, we're quite far from having a smooth and pleasant transport system, considering all the closures coming in 2025…
