The modernization of the metro in Paris is a never-ending battle, leaving us with very little respite. While the summer of 2024 brought a brief calm to the ongoing works due to the Olympics, this year, all these issues are back with a vengeance. Indeed, since the beginning of the year, interruptions have been piling up on various lines, and it seems that the entire summer period will follow suit, with a number of service stoppages on the horizon.
An optimized schedule
« The coming period is going to be quite intense » - these are the extremely positive words used by Jean-Louis Houpert, director of RATP infrastructures, to reassure all metro users in Paris. Just as cheerful!
It tells you that this doesn’t bode well for what’s to come. Because while a number of Parisians leave the capital during the two months of summer vacation, some by choice or desire continue to roam the corridors of its metro.

Luckily, aware that not everyone can telecommute for 2 months in La Baule, the company managing public transportation in Paris has announced that it has done everything possible to optimize the system. For instance, they will shift the interruptions on line 4 and the RER B, which cover pretty much the same route within the city. A lot of replacement buses will be deployed throughout the summer, and agents will be present everywhere to guide passengers (mainly tourists) who might be a bit lost.
