Metro: Line 18 will finally open before Line 15!

Last February, we told you everything you needed to know about the future line 18, even going as far as calling it the "best line of the Grand Paris Express." While it might have seemed a bit presumptuous back then, it appears that the facts have just confirmed our theory. And why is that? Not only is it the only line whose opening date has never been postponed since the start of construction, but it also looks like it will be the first of the 4 new lines to welcome us.

A continuously postponed opening

Last October, we shared some sad news: the delay (once again) of the opening date for line 15 of the Paris metro. Initially planned for 2022, we learned with much regret that it...It won’t finally open its doors until early 2027, more precisely in April, according to the latest news. Unfortunately, the 15 isn’t the only one facing the curse of construction delays, as the same story is being heard for lines 16 and 17, which are expected to see their first sections come to life between late 2027 and 2028. We’ll have to wait at least until 2030 for these 3 lines to be fully accessible.

Line 18, a light at the end of the corridor

Fortunately, to boost our spirits, we can count on line 18, with its delightful mint green color, because its first section, serving the stations of Christ de Saclay, Université Paris-Saclay, Polytechnique, and Massy Palaiseau, will be ready by the end of next year, specifically in October 2026! This is fantastic news for all the students in the area, who will soon benefit from a direct connection to the RER B and C. And starting from the following year, it will link Massy to Orly Airport, where line 14 has already been for over a year ! So all we can say now is: line 15 is dead, long live line 18!
