Metro: this Parisian line, one of the best in the world, is closed today and tomorrow

Bad news for fans of the best line in Paris, a.k.a line 14: the RATP has announced a traffic interruption for two days, happening this Friday, May 30, and Saturday, May 31. Watch out for the hassle!

We’ve been aware for a few weeks now. However, we know that this morning, we were not the only ones caught by surprise by the closed gates at line 14. And for good reason! Since this Friday, May 30 early in the morning until tomorrow evening, no station will be serviced along the entire line. It’s a tragedy knowing that it is the fastest and most convenient in the capital, to the point that it recently set all the records for ridership.


A total of two days of closures

Just a few days ago, we were already telling you about the closure of 9 metro lines this summer, which adds a double whammy for Paris commuters. Indeed, the Paris transport authority has decided to close one of the busiest lines during this Ascension weekend.

Italy and the world: number 14. Today and tomorrow, none of the 21 stations on the purple line will be in service, and of course, connections will not be guaranteed.

And even though we understand the reasoning behind this scheduling choice, since, with a long weekend ahead, everyone in Paris has headed off to sunny destinations, it still feels not very clever to schedule this right in the middle of a 4-day weekend when people might need to get to the airport. Yes, because without Line 14, that means no direct metro line to catch your flight at Orly!


From Bad to Worse

Behind this still so unpleasant shutdown, we find yet again modernization works. And since we think that Line 14 is already quite modern compared to others (like Line 10, Line 8, or Line 6, just to name a few), let's just say this traffic disruption is getting on our nerves a bit. However, we're trying to keep things in perspective, especially since Line 14 will be back up and running soon!
