For nearly three weeks now, high school students in the Île-de-France region have been mobilizing to make their voices heard, and advocating for access to quality education in decent conditions. More than worthy demands, for which they're organizing a new day of action on Tuesday, October 13th. The march will start from Place d'Italie from 2pm, heading toward the Place Vauban in the 7th arrondissement. And a number of metro stations will be closed along the route.

Stations more or less affected

While no fewer than 56,000 people — according to the Interior Ministry, 100,000 according to organizers — gathered last Tuesday, October 6th, the joint student and teacher unions are hoping to make an even bigger impact with this new gathering, which will march through the streets of

the left bank. A route that will connect Place d'Italie to the Invalides, which involved the closure of no fewer than 5 stations from 10am : Rue du Bac, Solférino and Assemblée nationale (line 12), as well as Varenne and Saint-François-Xavier (line 13). Stops located along the protest route. From noon onwards, however, 3 other stations close their doors, and we must admit we see the point a bit less. These are the stations Louvre-Rivoli (line 1), Cité (line 4) and Pont Neuf (line 7).

A week far from peaceful

And unfortunately, Paris metro users are in for a rough ride this week. Indeed, in addition to closures due to maintenance work — we salute Saint-Michel and République closed on lines 4 and 8 for far too long, as well as line 6 letting us down this weekend — a new demonstration is planned this Saturday, October 17th. And given how things have been going so far, this one will necessarily lead to station closures, likely around Nation, République, or Bastille, all three of which have been mentioned as starting or ending points for the demonstration.
