It's undeniably cold in Paris. No doubt about it, winter has truly settled into the capital, but this third week of January, it has decided to do us a little favor by gracing us with a lovely blue sky and a sun that makes us pull out our sunglasses. Here’s a tip: make the most of it at the start of the week, from Monday the 13th to Thursday the 16th of January, because after that, the weather is likely to worsen and give way to some thick fog.

A lovely start to the week, with fog expected for the weekend
Even though the temperatures won't rise above 7°C until Thursday, we can take advantage of this lovely weather to go out, stroll around, and enjoy a warm drink on the terrace of a café. Why? Because of the sun shining upon us without a cloud in sight on Monday the 13th, Tuesday the 14th, and Thursday the 16th of January. The exception will be on Wednesday the 15th, when fog will give us a little sneak peek of what’s to come this weekend. From Friday the 17th of January, things will take a turn. We should expect temperatures between -1 and 0°C in the mornings until Sunday the 19th, with an average of 4°C in the afternoons. Throughout these three days, fog will blanket the landscape, although the evenings are predicted to be sunny.

The Seine on flood alert
Although the end of the week looks relatively gloomy, the Seine isn’t celebrating either. Since Monday, January 13, the river has been classified as in yellow flood alert due to the heavy rains that have fallen on the capital in recent weeks. On Saturday, January 11, 3.65 meters were recorded by the Paris Austerlitz measuring station. This Monday morning, 3.30 meters were observed. However, while the trend is downward at the beginning of the week according to Vigicrue, the alert remains in effect for now.
