For a few weeks now, the weather has been playing with our nerves. We’re experiencing cold waves and periods of warmer weather, snowfall and endless precipitation. If the rain seems never-ending, it's not just your imagination, as it has been falling continuously across the country for... over 35 days! This is an extremely long period that France hasn't seen since 1959!
A new record to not celebrate
It’s been a few years now since new meteorological records are regularly being set all over the world. The culprit is climate change, which is causing massive disruptions. And one thing is for sure, Paris, and more broadly France, are not spared. In 2024 for example, we broke the record for rainfall in the capital over a year.
2026 is off to a flying start, breaking a record that hasn’t been reached since 1959, the year when precipitation measurements started. So, this Thursday, February 19 marks the 36th consecutive day of rain in the country, surpassing the previous record of 32 set in 2023.Avec 35 jours de pluie consécutive, la France enregistre un record depuis 1959

Soon the End
But luckily, it seems that the tide is turning, and good fortune is finally smiling upon us. Indeed, according to the latest weather reports, the storm Pedro, which has brought us all these unbearable rains lately, is expected to leave the country as soon as tomorrow, offering us a much-needed breather. So, in the coming days, the weather should become drier, and rain shouldn’t show its face every day. Even better, the sun itself is set to make an appearance at the beginning of next week, making temperatures rise dramatically, up to reaching 16°! Spring is just around the corner; we believe it!
