On Sunday, April 13, the 2025 edition of the Paris Marathon took place. Starting at 8 AM, runners from France and all over the world set off on the Champs-Élysées to cover a distance of 42.195 kilometers through the capital. The 23-year-old Kenyan Benard Biwott won the race with a time of 2 hours, 5 minutes, and 25 seconds. “I am very happy with my victory. I pushed very hard until the end, and I am very pleased with my time. It was very tough, but I gave it my all,” he declared. On the women’s side, it was the Ethiopian Bedatu Hirpa, soon to be 25 years old, who crossed the finish line first, completing the marathon in 2 hours, 20 minutes, and 45 seconds.

Over 56,000 runners at the starting line
In total, 56,950 athletes took on this amazing challenge, setting a new record for the capital. According to data from the Schneider Electric Paris Marathon, 51% of them were running a marathon for the first time. 31% of the participants were women and 33% were international runners. Various personalities joined the race including journalist François-Régis Gaudry, presenter Jean-Baptiste Marteau, sports coach and former Koh Lanta contestant Alix Noblat, and comedian Arnaud Tsamère.
