Louise, Gabriel... here are the most popular names given in Paris in 2025!

There are traditions we always stick to, and among them, we find the list of the most popular names from one year to the next. Just this past Thursday, July 16th, Insee published the list of the most popular names in France for 2025. Whether out of simple curiosity or to give you some ideas for your future offspring, here’s what the situation looks like in Paris and nationwide. 


Louise and Gabriel named 7,695 times between them

Insee has looked into the different French departments, and when it comes to male names, the findings are clear: it’s Gabriel who stands out significantly!

;the most given name in France — it tops the list in 43 departments and has been given 4,625 times. Following closely is Noah (given 3,465 times), then Léo (3,420 times) and Raphaël (3,285). They are followed by Louis, Jules, Arthur, Léon, Adam, and Maël.

For girls' names, Louise is the clear winner, having been given 3,070 times. She is followed by Jade (2,925 times) and Ambre (2,805 times). Alma, Alba, Rose, Emma, Romy, Adèle, and Alice round out the top 10.

A list of names that differs in Paris

In Paris, the trend is slightly different, especially for girls. In 2025, it's Alma that comes out on top of the most popular girls' names. You'll also find Louise, Olivia, Sofia, Iris, Adèle, Gabrielle, Emma, Alice, and Rose. 

For boys, there are few differences : it's indeed Gabriel who has been the most popular name, followed by Raphaël, Adam, Louis, Noah, Léon, Arthur, Isaac, Léo, and Oscar.
