Ah, the RER… A vast subject! It’s often hated by Parisians, who swear by the metro and see it as a notorious place where Satan reigns supreme. On the flip side, it’s praised by suburbanites, who view it as a gateway to enjoy the pleasures of the capital in just a few minutes. Unfortunately, everyone agrees that, no matter the line, its operation is far too often chaotic. And bad news, this announcement might just prove them right.

Three months of mixed feelings for the B

When you live in Paris and take the transport every day, you have to be patient. But we admit that with this new announcement of summer closures, we’re kind of at our wit’s end. And we believe we’re speaking for all users of the RER B, just learned that there will be no less than 3 months of summer disruptions on their beloved line. And overall, considering the extent of these disruptions, we can guarantee that, no matter which section of the line you take, you're affected.

So yes, we know, it’s pretty logical to do this in the summer, because people go on vacation, and the capital empties out, and so do its transports, and blah blah blah. However, some of us are stuck in the heart of Paris during the heatwave to pay their rent, and the RER B usually provides a great getaway option for some practical and affordable escapes on the weekends.

A somewhat complex schedule…

Behind this extremely untimely closure lies maintenance and modernization work on the lines. And while, in principle, we’re not against a little refresh, the problem is that this project will cause traffic interruptions… from July to September! And we won’t lie to you, it’s going to be a bit of a hassle for everyone.
