We've known for a while, but taking the metro in Paris this summer is likely to be quite a challenge. While Line 3 has already been closed on its best half for a few days, and Line 4 had its summer renovations last week, now it’s Line 7’s turn to be in the hot seat, with no less than 15 stations closed starting Friday and until the following Thursday!

Almost half the line out of service

From July 18 to 24 inclusive, no trains will run between the stations La Courneuve – 8 Mai 1945 and Chaussée d'Antin – La Fayette, temporarily earning the latter the honorary title of temporary terminus. During this entire period, for a good six days, Line 7 will be completely inaccessible on its northern part.

leaving a number of people in a bind. And for good reason, it's 15 stations out of 38 that will be at a standstill.

We just want to point out that only line 7 is affected, and that the other lines will continue to run even in the stations where the pink line (Bonbon, the pink one) passes. No transfers will be provided, you got that right! But don't worry, a replacement bus will be offered along the entire cut section, so you can still get around, more or less. And of course, you can always rely on the other operational lines, like line 5, which covers a large part.

Ongoing work throughout the summer

Behind this closure is yet again a comprehensive modernization project for the Paris transport network. And even though it's a bit annoying, we can only applaud the project, which will allow us to benefit from...

an exceptional metro. This time, the program includes the « renewal of a track system at the Louis Blanc station, ballast, sleepers at the Gare de l’Est , and rail at Porte de la Villette ».

Just a reminder, 5 other metro lines will be affected by more or less long closures in the coming weeks. It's the same story for the various RER lines, where closures started just a few days ago. And to be honest, we wish good luck to all the users of the B and C lines, the two most affected and for the longest time, no less. A little advice: if you can, it's a great time to go on vacation away from the capital.
