When you live in Paris, you’re subject to plenty of sources of anxiety. Among them is the fear of waking up every morning and finding out that our favorite metro line will be the next to close its doors for various works. And this Tuesday, March 25, the axe has fallen for the users of line 12. The RATP has just announced total or partial closures 4 times on the pine green line. And since we’re nice, and we know that anticipation is often the key to success when it comes to getting around Paris, we’re sharing all the details with you.
A month of mixed fortunes for line 12
Well, we’re not going to lie to you, we weren’t completely caught off guard by the RATP's announcement since a closure of line 12 during this period had been hinted at from the beginning of the month. However, the big news in this story is that the dates for the interventions have finally been shifted, shaking up the entire work schedule that we shared with you back in January, giving you a clear view of the hell of the year 2025.

Yes, initially a partial closure was announced for April 12 and 13, but it will now take place on April 19 and 20, right during the Easter weekend, which is sure to delight all the tourists taking advantage of the public holiday to explore the capital. For two days, no trains will run between Concorde and Montparnasse, which means that the stations Assemblée nationale, Solférino, Rue du Bac, Sèvres-Babylone, Rennes, and Notre-Dame-des-Champs will be closed. In the meantime, the two previously mentioned stops will be temporarily upgraded (but still an honor) to temporary terminus status, with Concorde coming from Mairie d’Aubervilliers and Montparnasse from Mairie d’Issy.
Along the same lines, the line will also experience two complicated evenings on Sundays the 13...
On April 27, 2025, the line 12 will be completely closed from 10 PM until the end of service. Well, even though this time it affects the entire line, we can agree that it's still less inconvenient for everyone than a partial closure. Especially since we don’t know about you, but for us, Sunday at 10 PM is all about sleep! Just trying to be fresh and ready for the week ahead, right…
More works, always more works
Behind these closures, though partial and still quite annoying, are projects for upgrading the track circuits. These interventions are “essential to ensure the safety of passengers and to preserve the durability of the structures,” as explained by RATP on their website. If it's for our safety, then we're okay with skipping the museum visit.musée d’Orsay for 2 days. See, we are truly ready to make all kinds of sacrifices.

In the meantime, rest assured, the Paris transport authority has of course planned for a replacement bus to run throughout the duration of the closures. Well, almost, since line 94 already serves all the stops affected by the closures on April 19 and 20, except for one. RIP Notre-Dame-des-Champs, which will only be accessible on foot for 48 hours. But hey, after all, stretching your legs has never harmed anyone!
