For the past few weeks, Republic Square has been concentrating a number of tensions, bringing together people protesting against the situation in high schools, but also against the rising cost of living. Good news, the revolutionary esplanade will very soon welcome one of France's most affordable store chains: Lidl. Indeed, a massive supermarket is about to open its doors north of the square.
An unmissable new address
It's in place of the Habitat shop, closed in December 2023 following the judicial liquidation of the brand, that this new temple of great deals is about to open its doors. On the agenda,a store of 1,556 m² spread over two floors, which will therefore compete with the chain's largest parisian location, located on Avenue du Maine in the 14th arrondissement, which boasts no less than 1,500 m² of retail space. This XXL supermarket will offer, like the brand's other locations, fresh products, frozen goods, groceries and even household appliances, all at rock-bottom prices, to satisfy everyone's wishes and needs in an affordable way.

An Opening Coming Soon
With this new location, the discount retailer continues its expansion in the capital, where it's establishing itself more and more. So, a store opened its doors in September in Barbès, at the foot of Sacré-Cœur, and two more openings are also expected in north Paris by the end of next year. As for the République address, according to initial reports, it should open its doors on January 14th. And yes, we know it might seem far away, but trust us, the way time flies, it's going to arrive faster than expected. We can only hope that the various demonstrations happening right now don't delay this opening.
