Coming out of a judicial recovery period in 2024, the brand Jennyfer hasn't quite managed to get back on its feet. This Wednesday, April 30, it finally requested its judicial liquidation, just like Camaïeu, Pimkie or Kaporal before it. A " brutal announcement " resulting in the closure of 191 of its stores by the end of May, and leaving " 1,000 employees " on the sidelines, says Élodie Ferrier, general secretary of CGT Commerces, to our colleagues at franceinfo.
🚨 Jennyfer va être liquidée : près de 1000 emplois menacés ! La marque française de prêt-à-porter pour ados, connue de toute une génération, va demander sa mise en liquidation judiciaire, a annoncé sa direction ce mercredi.

« A complete disappearance of the company »
This time, hope is no longer an option: it’s a « complete disappearance of the company », states Élodie Ferrier. Founded in 1984, Jennyfer is not an isolated case: many clothing brands have not escaped the post-COVID crisis, suffering from inflation, facing competition from second-hand shops, and also struggling against hyper fast fashion, represented by the giant Shein.
This liquidation, kept hidden until the last moment from the « staff representatives », concerns Élodie Ferrier and affects 100 employees.
0 employees, who will likely be laid off at the end of May, the date when all stores in France will close. This brings to mind the situation with Camaïeu in September 2022, which saw 2,600 of its positions cut. The reason? It’s due to poor management and bad strategic choices , she bitterly suggests to Actu.fr.💥 Jennyfer liquidée, 999 emplois supprimés !

Ce matin, les salariés ont appris la liquidation avec cessation de paiement.
Plus de salaire, pas d’alerte aux représentants du personnel.

24 Stores Shut Down in Île-de-France
All of its locations in Paris and the suburbs will be closing their doors. The stores located in Paris – areas like Châtelet-les-Halles, Pigalle, Gare du Nord – will all be shuttering. The same goes for the ones in Puteaux, Rosny-sous-Bois, Créteil, Cergy, Aulnay-sous-Bois, Saint-Denis and Mantes-la-Jolie: in total, 24 Jennyfer stores will be closing in Île-de-France, and 191 nationwide, with the list available on this map. It’s a new chapter for Gen Z, whose wardrobes have long overflowed with Jennyfer clothing.
Depuis que Jennyfer a fermé le shopping n’est plus aussi intéressant😔
