There are places that quiet the noise of the city. In the Saint-Gervais square, just a stone's throw from the City Hall, a garden has risen up on an old parking lot. A space of silence and light to remember, ten years after the November 13 attacks inaugurated this Thursday.

A Green Oasis in Saint-Gervais

Designed by landscape architect Mathieu Gontier and the Wagon Landscaping agency, this space was created in close collaboration with the victims' associations. Each of the sites struck that night, from the Bataclan to the Carillon, is represented by a cluster of plants separated by paved pathways, retracing the intimate geography of that tragic night.

A place for remembrance, but also for life

On the steles, the names of the 132 victims are engraved, accompanied by benches inviting contemplation. The Justice elm, over a century old, watches over the space alongside a peace olive tree planted in stone.

But the garden is more than just a memorial : it is alive. Resilient flowers that withstand winter, berry bushes to attract birds, and discreet niches for urban wildlife... everything has been designed so that nature continues to inhabit the memory. As the landscape designer sums it up: « Life is also expressed through nature. »
