The strolls along the Seine River are on pause for a few days, maybe even a couple of weeks. This weekend, the rain was particularly heavy in the capital, causing significant flooding of the river. On Sunday, February 15, 2026, the water level was measured at 3.19 meters at the Austerlitz bridge. However, with the disturbances expected this week, especially on Monday, February 16, 2026, it’s quite possible that this level will rise even more.

Up to 4 meters expected

« Road closed, flooding ». The yellow sign has been placed in many spots around the capital. A large part of the quays was closed this weekend. But Paris is not out of the woods yet. On Monday, February 16, 2026, it's expected that the water level will rise even higher, reaching between 3.41 and 3.61 meters, according to Vigicrues. The next day, Tuesday, February 17, 2026, this level could go up to 4 meters, extending the closure of the riverbanks. However, the City of Paris sees this as « a typical flooding episode for the season ».

Closed Routes

In anticipation of rising floodwaters, the City of Paris has closed the Tuileries tunnel as it gets flooded when the water level exceeds 3.50 meters.

The capital has already experienced significant floods, such as in 1910 (8.62 meters), in 2016 (6.1 meters), and again in 2018 (5.88 meters). If you live in a flood-prone area, alerts will be issued. Measures have been taken to minimize risk and especially to manage potential flooding.
