It's official, Isabelle Adjani has been sentenced to suspended prison time and a hefty fine for tax fraud. The trial began on October 19th, following an investigation opened in 2016.

The verdict has been given. On Thursday, December 14th, two months after the start of the trial, the famous French actress Isabelle Adjani was sentenced to two years of suspended prison sentence and a fine of €250,000. The reasons? Tax fraud and money laundering. During the trial (which she did not attend), the actress, who has won 5 César awards, was found guilty of having transferred €120,000 through an undeclared account in the United States, passing off a donation of €2 million as a loan, and living fraudulently in Portugal.

The investigation was opened in 2016 when his name appeared in the Panama Papers. Despite his absence at the trial, Me Olivier Pardo, one of his lawyers, still affirmed: "With confidence and determination, we will invite him to immediately appeal."
