It’s the day we’ve been waiting for for five years, the day of the rebirth of a quintessential Parisian landmark. On December 7, Notre-Dame Cathedral will officially reopen its doors to the public after five long years of reconstruction work. For this special occasion, a ceremony will be held in the presence of the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, Monsignor Ulrich, the Archbishop of Paris, and many artists. “There will be [...] some of the greatest internationally renowned artists, that is what the cathedral deserves,” affirmed Philippe Jost, president of the public establishment for the cathedral's restoration, in an interview with RTL.

Rumors are swirling, hinting at several artist names. Among them is Paul McCartney, who will be in the capital for two concerts on December 4 and 5. Bono, the lead singer of U2, is also making headlines, along with Lucienne Renaudin Vary, known as the "barefoot trumpeter." Additionally, we have Gustavo Dudamel Ramírez, the Venezuelan conductor and former musical director of the Paris Opera. « It won’t be a big concert, but a night of testimonials, musical moments, dance, and readings of great texts », said the diocese of Paris, as reported by Le Figaro.

A weekend of celebration for the reopening of Notre-Dame
Starting on November 29, Emmanuel Macron will visit the cathedral for a final tour of the site. On December 7, the day of the reopening of the worship site, the president will speak on the forecourt. « This will be a republican and secular time before a religious and then musical time in Notre-Dame », states the presidential palace. The entire ceremony will actually be broadcast worldwide. The next day, Sunday, December 8, a mass will take place to consecrate the new altar. Tourists are expected to arrive in droves: on average, up to 40,000 people are anticipated each day. From December 8 to 14, the building will be open « until 10 PM », specifies Olivier Ribadeau Dumas, the rector of the cathedral.
