Well, first things first, we want to make it clear, if you take the metro 6 times a day to get to the office, go have lunch with your mom, make 4 stops to pick up a package, and then head over to meet friends on the other side of Paris, unfortunately, we can't help you out, and we suggest you keep moving along.
If, on the other hand, you have a reasonable use of the Paris metro, you prioritize walking and cycling (which we applaud you for), and public transport is more of a last resort for you, then, goodness, stop paying more than €85 a month, and instead, listen to our absolutely incredible advice.
The end of an era
Starting January 1st next year, a little revolution is taking place in the transport system. To kick things off, the RATP has announced a single ticket, valid for all the transport options.
Île-de-France, at the price of 2.50€. The second big change: the disappearance of the book of 10 tickets and its small discount on the ticket price. Now, no more tricks, everyone will have to pay the same amount… with one exception!

Oh yes, for occasional travelers, there's a Pass that still withstands the invader, allowing you to get around at a lower cost in the twists and turns of the metro: the Liberté +. It's a post-payment system that lets you pay at the end of the month only for the trips you've taken, with a little discount on the price, too!
All-access pass
To keep it short, the Liberté + is a tiny card that, until now, allows you to travel anywhere on the metro, bus, and tram networks, for the symbolic price of €1.73 (compared to €2.15 with a normal ticket). And starting from next month (January), it will expand to cover the entirety of the IDF region,!> as the kids say. So yes, its price will go up a little, increasing to €1.99. But since the Navigo and regular ticket prices are also going up, it doesn’t really change much.

Disparition du carnet, uniformisation des tarifs dans toute la région, extension du pass liberté plus aux RER et trains en banlieue : une initiative très utile car beaucoup d’usagers… pic.twitter.com/jFBcNgtW2x
There you go, now that we've shared everything with you, we leave you to make your choice with your heart and mind, in consultation with your wallet. If it helps tilt the scale, we still have a couple of tricks up our sleeves. First, the Liberté + is only worth it if you take the metro less than 25 times a month (and if you’re reimbursed at 50% for your Navigo pass). And second, if you want to receive your card quickly, that is, before the disappearance of the paper ticket at €1.73, we suggest you start the process before the end of the year!
