On Tuesday, April 16, 2024, the Ruang volcano in northern Indonesia erupted, becoming more active throughout Wednesday night and resulting in the evacuation of over 11,000 people. This natural disaster has captured the attention of people worldwide with the absolutely captivating photos that have been circulating on social media in recent days.

A scene both apocalyptic and spectacular, as frightening as it is stunning. This is what we can witness when viewing the few photos and videos shared on social media capturing the series of eruptions that have occurred since April 16 in Indonesia. Images depicting the end of the world, with incredibly vibrant colors, showcasing the extreme magnitude of this latest disaster.


A Risky Zone

Violent volcanic eruptions, and a threat of tsunami, these are the 2-3 little hassles that the thousands of volcanic islands in Indonesia are facing. And at the same time, it must be said that with its 130 still active volcanoes and its location at the intersection of seismic plates, the country was not nicknamed "the Pacific Ring of Fire" for nothing.
